The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Range

Thursday, October 02, 2014

The Body Shop has always been one of my favourite skincare brands because not only do their products smell incredible, they're cruelty-free as well! Recently, I received a few of their items (from my granny) from their tea tree oil range and have been trialing them for about two to three weeks, which gives me ample time to really test their effectiveness.

Tea tree oil is known for its anti-bacterial properties, refreshing scent and ability to cure acne and pimples and so I thought this range would be perfect for me.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash - This is probably the one that worked the best for me out of all three. It is a translucent green gel that's slightly watery. It lathers up into a a thin foam and gives a cooling effect during and after wash. I use this in the mornings and it is a great pick-me-up, especially if you had a rough night. I can't say it helped reduce my acne, but it certainly did keep it at bay!

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner - The toner stung my face so bad the firs time I used it! I poured a little onto a cotton pad, swiped it across my forehead and went 'NOPE.' That really put me off it for quite some time, and I only had the guts to give it another go recently (a.k.a this morning) and surprisingly, it didn't sting as much! I only felt a very slight burning sensation for a few seconds. Other than that, everything else was A-okay!

Tea Tree Oil - I found this product so-so, or maybe because I find that tea tree oil doesn't really do much for my acne. It works fairly well at reducing redness and soothing itches, and whenever the skin on my face feels irritated or aggravated, I dab some of this on and it calms it down some!

I would say that all in all, this range isn't exactly fantasmic but it is a lovely addition to my skincare. The product from the three I would recommend the most is the facial wash, but many people have said the oil works amazing for them too so if you have one or two of those pesky pimples occasionally (and not full-blown acne like me), you may want to give it a whirl! If you have sensitive skin I'd say avoid the toner!

I have also tried the Tea Tree Oil Blotting Tissues quite some time ago and it wasn't anything groundbreaking. In fact, I thought each sheet a tad too small for how much it cost! There are definitely cheaper and better alternatives in the drugstore! They have many other things in the Tea Tree Oil range that I haven't tried as well but the ones I'm most keen on is the BB Cream!

P.S. You can get a little Tea Tree Oil Skincare Kit which contains little samples of the face wash, toner, lotion, oil and blotting sheets!
