My Little M.A.C Lipstick Collection

Thursday, August 21, 2014

If you asked which brand of lipsticks do I have the most, it would be Revlon and M.A.C. I got my first M.A.C lipstick, Russian Red, last year, and haven't looked back since. Since then, my collection has grown and of course, it's not like I bought the whole store, but I'm quite proud of my little collection and would like to show it to you! I've only got 6, but they're my favourites to wear and you can see me sporting See Sheer and Giddy almost everyday!

Russian Red (Matte): This was my first M.A.C lipstick and was an impulse buy. This is a gorgeous medium cherry red that is extremely pigmented and stays on through light eating and drinking, although you might want to touch up the corners or the centre after a big meal. This matte formula is more moisturising than the next one.

Ruby Woo (Retro Matte): Ruby Woo is famous for being known as the 'perfect retro/vintage red' and I agree with it whole-heartedly! This is a blue-toned red that is completely matte. This matte formula is slightly more drying than their regular mattes and may drag on the lips. If you've got a bit of time to spare, I recommend using a lip brush! You might also want to have a go at your lips with a lip scrub before application. (;

See Sheer (Lustre): This shimmer-free lipstick is described by M.A.C as a 'grapefruit pink' but to me, it is more coral with pink undertones. This was definitely more pigmented than I expected, and I love the glossy finish this gives my lips, making them look plump and healthy! This was my latest buy and definitely one of my top favourites!

Chatterbox (Amplified Creme): This is one type of pink I don't think I can pull off or looks good on me. The Barbie pink. Chatterbox is a neutral to cool pink that pulls a bit too cool on me. It didn't compliment my skin well and made my teeth quite yellow. However, take my opinion with a pinch of salt as I've only had this lipstick on once or twice!

Giddy (Lustre): I really like their Lustre finishes as this and See Sheer are probably the most used of my lipsticks! This is a perfect, slightly-sheered medium, neutral, almost-mauvey pink on me and is the perfect MLBB colour. Perfectly easy to pair with smokey or natural eyes, this is definitely a go-to shade!

Angel (Frost): Despite the finish M.A.C says this is, this barely has any shimmer in it, let alone the chunks of glitter some of their frost lipsticks seem to have. This is a light warm pink that is almost (but not really) as Barbie as Chatterbox. This is also one of my rarely worn lipsticks as I find the colour seems a bit off sometimes. (Pssst... this is almost a dead-on dupe for M.A.C's Creme Cup!)

  1. Do! I recommend the Cremesheen and Lustre finishes to start with! They're the easiest to work with and the colour payoff is not bad! x
